Stop at 10 wins or play on to round 18?

Stop at 10 wins or play on to round 18?

After the 10th win in a ranked or unranked run, the game offers a choice. It does not end the run by itself. One side continues. The other takes the win now.

The same starting state

Ten wins in a row, no losses, 5 tries, and the round counter already on 11. Eight rounds remain.

  • Take the win. The run ends. The payout is the 10 wins plus 20, so 30 trophies.
  • Continue. Tries stay at 5 because they are already full. Eight more wins, through round 18, make 18 wins, no losses and 5 tries. The payout is 18 plus 20, so 38 trophies. Losing the five tries instead pays the 10 wins and no survival bonus, so 10 trophies.

A second state: 10 wins, 2 losses, 3 tries, round counter 13, six rounds left.

  • Take the win. There were losses and tries remain, so the bonus is 10. The payout is 20 trophies.
  • Continue. One try comes back, so you have 4. Six more wins make 16 wins, 2 losses and 4 tries. The payout is 16 plus 10, so 26 trophies. If the tries then hit 0, the bonus is 0. You are paid the wins you still have, which is at least 10.

Wins become trophies when the run ends. Starting survival and then failing does not also pay the bonus for taking the win.

Five try hearts

When a try comes back

A run starts with 5 tries. A loss spends one. When the round counter reaches 8, one try comes back if you still have at least one and fewer than 5. Choosing survival gives one back on the same condition. A try that has already hit 0 is not returned, and the run ends.

In survival the run also ends once round 18 is over and a try remains. Runs and rounds is the short account of these limits. The opponent is a stored board of the same round.

Rating and the ladder

On a ranked run, the button "Take the win." shows one ranking change. Continuing shows a range. The low end is losing until no tries remain. The high end is winning every remaining round through 18, including the try that came back. The same win count can show a different change when the rating you already hold is different. From Master upward, the survival part of that change is multiplied by 0.6. An unranked run with custom rules does not write the class rating.

The steps are Bronze at 0, Silver at 50, Gold at 120, Platinum at 200, Diamond at 300, Master at 400, Grandmaster at 480 and Grandma at 550. The scale stops under 850.

Trophy counted when the run ends

Rushdown, Staring Contest, Perfection and You Are Winner uses the same try count. Five tries left at the end of round 18 is that achievement. It is not a health bar.
